Notes: Finished 9-8 to Spurs on penalties. The night started with my husband driving us to the game because of the awkward kick-off time, then dropping us off somewhere that meant we had to rush out of the car. I accidentally left my phone behind - the phone with our digital tickets, all my payment cards, and the only way to call him. I panicked, but then remembered the traffic jam we were in when he dropped us off. Thankfully, I managed to find the car and retrieve my phone, although it left me in a bit of a tizzy for a while. We sat in the front row and saw Spurs take the lead through Tilly Vinberg in the 7th minute, holding on to it through the first half. London City looked the stronger side, though, and early in the second half they scored two quick goals - including a scorcher from Fernández - to go ahead. We pushed and pushed deep into stoppage time, but it felt like it just wasn’t going to happen, and a number of Spurs fans left early. Then, in the dying moments of added time, we won a corner. Lisa Kop went up for it, and an alleged handball from Goldie gave Spurs a penalty. Beth England stepped up and, of course, scored. The Spurs fans went wild. It was literally the last kick of normal time. Extra time it was. Extra time was evenly contested, with neither side able to take advantage, so it went to penalties. I was delighted they were taken at our end, with each successful Spurs taker celebrating right in front of us - and there were nine of them. I won’t lie, every time a Spurs player stepped up I had that feeling in the pit of my stomach, not wanting it to be them who missed or had it saved - but nobody did. Finally, Lisa Kop saved their ninth penalty, and we’d won. Tinka climbed over the advertising hoardings to celebrate with the fans. What a feeling, what a night. We got home late, but it was worth every minute, and it’s one I’ll remember for years to come. I love this squad.
